The Om El Arab Families
Our breeding program at Om El Arab is almost entirely based upon six main families descending from the mares *Bint Estopa, Om El Shaina, Om El Beneera, Om El Jazira, *Bint Shaker and *Samanna. If you familiarize yourself with these six mare families it will become much easier to understand the intricacies our breeding program.
(*El Shaklan x *Estopa)
International Junior Champion Mare 1982 *Bint Estopa is one of three *Estopa daughters that have influenced the Om El Arab breeding program in recent years. *Bint Estopa is line bred to *Estopa. She was created by breeding *El Shaklan back to his dam *Estopa. Today we see the world wide influence of her legacy, not only through the wonderful offspring she left us at Om El Arab, but also through her descendants that have significantly contributed to breeding programs all around the globe.
(*Carmargue x *Estopa)
Om El Shaina was *Estopa's second to last foal. Her sire is the British bred World Champion and Spanish National Champion Stallion *Carmargue who was on lease to Om El Arab for two years. Shaina is a mare of illuminating beauty with an enchanting face and big, black liquid eyes, to be in her presence can be mesmerizing. She has created a world wide dynasty with her incredible family, not only through her extraordinary daughters but also through her magnificent sons. Shaina is the dam of our head sire Om El Shahmaan.
(*Sharem El Sheikh x *Estopa)
*Estopa was 27 years old when she gave birth to her last foal, the little miracle filly we named Om El Beneera. Beneera is a broodmare supreme, she consistently produces one outstanding foal after another. The most recent accolade bestowed on her is by her son, Om El Al Azeem, as he was named 2010 US Reserve National Champion Stallion. Beneera has the most beautiful eyes that are set low in an exceptionally sculpted face. Her strong temperament sets her "family" apart from others here at Om El Arab. We think that being a "miracle" foal gave her a sense of entitlement and it seems that she passes that entitlement on to her descendants. This attribute makes Beneera family members fantastic show horses.
(Estopasan x *Bint Jacio)
Jazira has created her own family at Om El Arab mainly through her incredible daughter, twice US Reserve National Champion Senior Mare, Om El Jimala. Jazira is our only pure Spanish mare. Her dam *Bint Jacio became International Supreme Champion Mare in Belgium in 1982. Her grandmother was a mare named Nihara whose influence can be found in breeding programs around the world but especially in Lenita Perroy's Farm Haras Meia Luna. We are very proud of Jazira's contribution to our breeding program.
1977 - 2003 (*Shaker El Masri x Estasha)
With her magnificent attitude and incredible face, Bint Shaker was a beauty far ahead of her time. In the 1970's and early '80's she completely dominated the European show scene and left the ring with a perfect, unbeaten, show record. Bint Shaker lives on today through her grand-daughter and great-grand-daughter at Om El Arab.
1975 - 2006 (Gharib x Schareya)
Samanna's claim to fame is that she is the dam of *Sharem El Sheikh. He was Unanimous Scottsdale Champion Stallion and won 17 Halter and Driving Championships during his illustrious career. He is best known for his son, US National Champion Eternety, but the best kept secret is that he was a sire of magnificent broodmares. He is often found in pedigrees of wonderful show horses. Samanna was bred at the German State Stud Marbach. She is a full-sister in blood to the Aristocrat 17 Champion producing mare *Sanacht. Samanna lived to the wonderful age of thirty.
Om El Arab has always used straight Egyptians to combine with their Spanish horses. We successfully infused the beauty and refinement of the straight Egyptian horse into our breeding program.
