Om El Sophine

(Om El Exquisit × Om El Sofie Dream)
Grey Filly , Born 2009

Om El Sophine is by Om El Exquisit and out of Om El Sofie Dream.  We feel that she is a throwback to her beautiful great-grand dam, *Bint Shaker.  Sophine tied for first place in the Las Vegas Breeder's Cup Futurity as a yearling in 2010 and then won it outright as a two year old in 2011! She is long-legged, super typey and has beautiful motion.  We believe that she will mature into one of our great mares.  She is proudly owned by Nasir Abdullatif Al-Fozan of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.  Om El Arab is proudly awaiting Om El Sophine's first foal, by Alfabia Ajib, in 2012.

Perspectives by Janina: Reflecting on Lenita and Sigi

(Pictured left to right: Lenita, Sigi and Marietta Salas of Ses Planes) What an interesting and uplifting exercise it is to contemplate the lives of two of the most influential breeders of our time: Lenita Perroy and Sigi Siller.   My mother Sigi founded Om El Arab in 1970 in the Black Forest region of Germany.  My mother and father imported 18 mares from Spain and three horses from Egypt as the foundation of the Om El Arab breeding program.
